Chaotic car pollution! - Writing.

W.A.L.T Write and understand the features of an explanation.

In room 2 we have been writing our writing tests. I wrote mine about electronic cars what are their power source, what do they need, and are they good for the environment? Here is my story, hope you like it :)

Chaotic car pollution!

Fossil fuels are a big problem for our Earth. But are electric cars really the solution? Are diesel cars better?

Here is a different perspective on these chaotic cars!

Have you ever wondered how you power an electric car? What's inside and how does it work? Let's start from the beginning. Electric cars get energy from something called lithium ion batteries, lithium ion batteries are located down below in the Earth's surface. That means in order to get these batteries you have to create a coal mine. Yes, Diesel and gas cars don't seem that bad but they dispose  fuels out into the air and that causes air pollution.  Here are some examples of electric cars: Volkswagen, Tesla's and last but not least EVs, EVs have the longest driving range ranked. Lithium ion batteries can only go up to 6 to 16 months and then you can't get rid of them then we have to dump them which causes even more pollution! Electric cars are not as green as we have been told.

No need to freight yet! There is still hope. Specialists are trying to find a way to revive electric cars, by putting the batteries in a freezer for 24 hours. Hopefully this works! Electric cars can be improved here's how. Try to keep your speed under 60 mph whenever possible, go easy on the AC, not too hot and not too cold and drive cautiously. If you do this then your battery will last longer which means it reduces car pollution! If you can do this you can help our Planet.

In conclusion, These chaotic cars are a problem that needs to be pointed out. Don't lose hope yet we can make electric cars work! Do you agree with this perspective? What do you think? Do you want an electric car? Or do you already own one?

The scary sleepover...

One night I was having a sleepover with my friends. Everyone arrived on time. As it became closer to 9 we all decided to watch a movie. We put the popcorn in the microwave and it started going POP, POP, POP We took the popcorn out of the microwave and went to watch the movie as we are 1 hour into the movie we heard BANG, BANG, BANG we decided to keep watching the movie and ignore. The movie was almost finished but I noticed something strange. There was a shadow by the door, as I slowly approached the shadow. BANG, BANG, BANG. AHHHH! I screamed. All my friends went home. I went to bed..

Writing!

 W.A.L.T Make comparisons!

Today for writing, We had to watch this video about how people survive In Antarctica and see if any of the things that they do in Antarctica and see if we did any of the stuff they do and see if we did it at camp.

Here are my differences. I hope you like them!

My differences:

The weather was a huge difference. At camp the weather was sunny and it was so hot, but in Antarctica it is freezing cold!

At camp we had toilets that flush but in Antarctica they have to pee and poop in a bucket!

Free writing!

W.A.L.T Use the new figures of speech we have learnt.

Today for writing we were able to make up a story. But we had to include similes, alliteration and hyperbole.  Here is my story! Can you spot my simile, alliteration and hyperbole?

Lost in the woods…

My name is Lexi. I live in a house with my Mum, Dad and my Obnoxious brother Axl, Axl is as annoying as a 2 year old and as loud as an Elephant! One day my Dad says let's go for a walk! I said Okay! We all agreed to go for a walk except Axl (as usual) but it wasn't really his choice. We grabbed our drink bottles and we went to the forest.

Everything is going well so far. As we walk across a crooked, cold, creepy path I feel a shiver run down my spine. I saw a bench so I sat down. ´Mum , Dad´ Where are you? I said, They were GONE. I noticed something weird in the trees, Anyone here? I said twice and got no response…

As I approached the tree I noticed something on the right hand side of the tree. It was a mini door. There was that shiver again. I felt like something or someone was watching me. Hello, Anyone here? I said as my voice was cracking and shaking.

I got close to the door very slowly. I kick the door something telepathically says: GO AWAY OR ELSE.. Or else what? I said. It said again GO AWAY OR ELSE… This time it was dark, cold, and mysterious not to mention creepy. The shiver up my spine was getting stronger and so was the wind.

I started shaking. I ran, ran and ran as fast as I could and I never EVER went back…

                                                   The End.

Alliteration story!

 W.A.L.T Use alliteration,

Today we had to do a 15 minute quick story inspired by this picture!

Here is my story! Hope you like it :)

The fierce, frightening Zoo!

One day I was walking to the brilliant, big zoo with brave and courageous staff feeding the fierce, frightening animals, We had to stay a metre away from all animals at all times even the fast, friendly and foolish farm animals. As I was walking up to the Zoo not knowing what would be waiting for me on the other side, One man yells ´´There making a run for it!, another man yells  ´Watch out´´ As their driving to me I scream at the top of my lungs ´´ Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!´ I quickly jump out of the way I see a van with animals inside and on the top! as they zoom of into the distance. ´Ím gonna get a glass of cold, cold water´I said  Completely ignoring what I had just seen. The animals were never seen again and the Zoo got shut down. The End

Should Charlie be in Room 2 for the day?

 Lexi Howse,                                                               Room 2,

NBC

28th August 2020

Dear Miss Pownall,

I strongly believe that Charlie should come into Room 2 for the day. Reason 1, Charlie can be used as a learning tool and can be used as a reward to make us work hard. Reason 2, Everyone gets stressed from time to time but it might be nice to have a calming dog there to comfort us. Reason 3, who wouldn't love to have a dog in the classroom? They are adorable! Studies have also shown that dogs Love meeting new people.

Firstly, Charlie can be a learning tool and can be used as a reward. An example from my own life is In Lock down my Dad would say finish your work and then we can go out for a the dogs . That's an example of a reward.

Secondly, Everyone can get stressed anytime and any way. He might be very helpful for people who might be feeling stressed or upset. I remember when my dog  made me feel better when I was worried about cross country.

Finally, Every dog is comforting, supportive and of course Adorable! Who wouldn't love to have a cute furry little monster in the classroom for the day?

In conclusion, I strongly believe that Room 2 should have a dog in the class for the day that is my persuasive letter. Do you think Room 2 should have a dog in the classroom?

Sincerely,  Lexi Howse

Why all children should not have pets.

W.A.L.T To write a persuasive text

All children should

             Not have pets

I strongly believe that all children should not have pets.

I state three reasons why not all children should have pet reason one  They take up all of your attention reason  two They are expensive

Plus the stuff you need to buy for them reason three. Some dogs are very vicious and not suitable for families.

Firstly,

Say you were going out for dinner or going out with the whole family you would have to leave the dog home alone

It has a lot of responsibility to have a pet and takes up

Most of your time think before you buy.

Secondly,

They are expensive and plus having to buy all the proper

Equipment or care that a dog needs i believe it's bad for all

Children to have pets

Thirdly,

They are vicious and sometimes not suitable for families even if you have a small child and a vicious dog that wouldn't go down

Well.

In conclusion,

I strongly believe not all children should NOT have pets this is

My persuasive writing of why all children should NOT have pets. Do you think all children should have pets?

Tuatara

The Tuatara

This week we have been learning to write an explanation about animal life cycles, we had to pick animal and we got the tuatara. we had to write about them on google docs.stage one is the Egg stage two is the hatch-ling stage three Juvenile stage 4 is adult.  what went well was I used technical language and was proud of myself for learning new words. My next step would probably be working on my punctuation. Have you ever written about a animals life cycle.

Tuatara life cycle

Have you ever wondered how a Tuataras life cycle works?  well today I am going to tell you.

Stage 1 The Egg

When a female Tuatara lays its Eggs is laid in the soil in the ground an egg stays in the deep  burrow for 12 to 15 months before hatching. The eggs are soft and leathery when born.when an egg is warm it is a female and if the eggs are cold it is  a male.when the baby tuatara is just born it is born with three eyes.

Stage 2 the Hatchling

when a tuatara reaches a hatchling it loses its third eye because the scales cover over it when the tuatara becomes a hatchling over time the mum leaves it to defend themselves the length of a hatchling tuatara gets up to 12-15cm long for the first 15 years it starts being called a Juveniles.

Stage 3 Juveniles

When a hatchling reaches Juvenile the Juveniles only hunt in the day because adults hunt at night and will kill the Juvenile tuatara Juveniles is not when they mate or have babies

Stage 4 Adult

Adult tuataras are 45-60cm an  Adult tuatara only hibernates in the winter to avoid cold weather tuataras have been around since dinosaurs they eat beetles, crickets, spiders, frogs, lizards and birds

thats how a tuataras life cycle works.
